Designers make prototypes both when considering a brand new design and when developing insight through a series of design iterations.

Prototypes are created to test ideas, measure dimensions and capacities, investigate details, communicate ideas, and to help decide whether a design is feasible. The process of creating prototypes is often one of discovery, frustration and serendipity. Sadly, many good ideas end at the prototype stage, and designers rarely produce prototypes just for the sake of exhibition.

Through this exhibit, we can look behind the built structure and completed products to get a sense of the creator's original concept, see ideas in the process of being formed, and follow the path from concept to creation. Furthermore, this collection shows prototypes
which lead to changes in thinking or design. In this exhibit, the possibility of discovery with prototypes is explored through the works
of 13 creators.
